about

Synthpop techno sludge and experimental EDM, produced March 2021, both with virtual online web browser-based synthesizers and also with physical hardware gear and field recordings of nature sounds.

PLUS -- some stray tracks from an experimental electropop period 2014 - 2017, discovered in murky layers of abandoned forlorn archives of a mysteriously dismal hard drive tucked away in a turbulent twilight of reason and reluctance, now brilliantly shimmering in the Sound Temple.

"Elastic, escstatic, euphoric eccentricity that sounds like nothing else on Earth. Str8 Sounds is definitely orbiting a spherical fantasy globe of fluctuating sonic sensibilities and tumultuous art history disturbances."

-- Mr. Space Clock, TV FOR YOUR EARS AND FEET program, recently banned from the BBC radio broadcast system.

"Space alien invasion force music, conquering Earth with extraterrestial warblings and whoopings, pretending to be human music of this world, but it's NOT."

-- Emilie Lily, AVANT GARDE ART MONITOR

"Verbunkos, frottolas, gorgheggios, hopaks -- guess who's got a new digital album out? Str8 Sounds! As per his delicious recipe, hear how he morphs and mutilates both hardware and virtual online synthesizers, coercing them to fracture existing musicology and forge new, regrettable directions in electronic music mayhem!"

-- Pronto Perturbed, ATLAS OF ALIENATING ART

"When younger people, teenagers especially, hear Str8 Sounds, it's like they wake up from a nightmare of musical monotony to be smacked in the face with lyrics like "I felt bad about the bubble gum that fell out of my mouth, what are you inflicting on whom? Get your broom. Clean up that mess you made in your room."

... accompanied by howling, crackling fake synthesizers hosted on the internet superhighway or whatever. Music Itself will never be the same."

-- Bromo Promo Seltzer, pioneer of plunderphonics and turntablism.

"I listened. I learned. 22nd Century Troubadour by Str8 Sounds is a solid work of sound art that spins, flickers, swirls, slams, bams, flimflams around berserk, explosive, shaking the walls and ceilings and floors, thumping like a mad prophet twiddling with knobs, sliders, switches, D-beams, touch pads, ribbon controllers, and flashing multi-colored buttons on a complex alien UFO spaceship that can bounce and wow and flutter like a wild invisible jumbo-horned crystalline unicorn."

-- Henk Turburnski, AUDIO OUTPOST NYC blogger.

"Listen to Str8 Sounds sing-talk lyrics like: When you put lipstick on a pig, and it doesn't taste like peanut butter without figs on the telescope, that's quite a rig, tell the moon hello, I wasn't sick, I was just tired of giving a flick to my wrist when I wanted a Mick, back out in your head, take off the TV and put it instead in the sewer where it belongs, like the flowers and my songs.

-- you said you wanted something different? You got it right up in here.

22nd Century Troubadour lives up to the Str8 Sounds legend."

-- Monty Pylon, organ player for Queens (NYC that is!).

"Bend your ear toward this new album, ease into the first few songs, like a weary laborer easing into a warm bubble bath -- and you suddenly will find yourself ELSEWHERE.

You'll get pulled into the psychedelic vortex of the Str8 Sounds art dimension, a very strange place indeed. Who else comes anywhere close to this vivid surrealist Dada psyche-penmanship?"

-- Blinky Winkledyne the Crooning Spine, ENTERTAINER FOR MARS AND BEYOND raconteur, outdated synthesizer repair ninja and accomplished tuba player, in addition to being a renowned amateur astronaut and acclaimed rocket rider.

"Always provocative, sonically and poetically, Str8 Sounds knocks it out of the park again, in a sobering but melodically pleasing confrontation with today's warped reality."

-- Prince Delamarque, DJ Extraordinaire and Mobile Universal Disco Service operator.

about

Str8 Sounds Peoria, Illinois

At age 6, I was changing speeds on reel to reel tape recorders & thus was born an electronic musician, Str8 Sounds, on physical synthesizers, digital loops, samples, online instruments, field recordings, slide whistles, harmonicas, etc.

Gave Andy Warhol a tape of my music, NYC 1986.

1st official Str8 Sounds performance was @ Montage of Madness festival, Canton, IL, 1991, sponsor - Ed Carper.
