about

Str8 Sounds sings~! Chase your frozen blues and monochrome tears away, with the kicking exuberance of THIS music and THESE lyrics.

Grinding gooey globules and grimacing granite grommets of most unusual artistry, pummeling perfectly and creatively the grim surroundings, making all sinister scenarios, regardless of source or certainty, inhabit an endangered species list of fading grays and time aways.

Your mind can now find the hygiene it has always dreamed of and to which it still aspires.

Critics react to special-invite online prototypes, embryonic preludes to what has now taken shape as Str8 Sounds "Modern Travel Music":

"There is much to like in this endearing compilation of Str8 Sounds fantasiestucke, esercizio, chanson, and sprechgesang. Top notch and quite provocative. Catchy tunes and crisp poetry." - Laura Danesworth, Spotlight on Underground Music Developments

"With each new Str8 Sounds release, we discover a lot more about what Music Itself yearns to be. Each track seems like an EP or min-album, so richly endowed with spectacular clavierubung, cantus firmus, and ambient appoggiatura! His unearthly style sets these stimmingsbild canzonets and antiphonic aubades apart from generic synthpop. Str8 Sounds "Modern Travel Music" transports the listener to truly exotic heights." - Gustav Blentz, Mental Radio Report

"Not surprisingly, Str8 Sounds continues to forge new and unexpected paths in contemporary art music and surrealist solfeggios. Synthesized sistrum, quivering quodlibet, plasticized plainsong, and metallic melisma abound. Innovative, unpredictable, yet charmingly quasi-musical in wide swathes; this is an excellent introduction to the synthpop side of this experimental music artist." - Nick Jaffey, Trends in Outsider Music

"Notorious for provocateur lyrics, and aggressive roasting of the rubbish that reigns in high places, Str8 Sounds proves once again that folk, protest, Dada, and electronics can result in a truly marvelous and mischievous mixture. I'll be playing this one LOUD and often. What anecdotal lyricism and switched-on instruments have always dreamed of achieving, and now the right man has taken charge of hope and need, delivering another comical, philosophical, inflammatory beatnik techno project, and this one, like the previous "Music for Marcel Broodthaers" and "Chalcedony Chalice" albums, this one too, has wings!"- Sue Mollins, Electronic Music Forum for Advanced Compositional Strategies

about

Str8 Sounds Peoria, Illinois

At age 6, I was changing speeds on reel to reel tape recorders & thus was born an electronic musician, Str8 Sounds, on physical synthesizers, digital loops, samples, online instruments, field recordings, slide whistles, harmonicas, etc.

Gave Andy Warhol a tape of my music, NYC 1986.

1st official Str8 Sounds performance was @ Montage of Madness festival, Canton, IL, 1991, sponsor - Ed Carper.
